Hello! The 19th of May is
the day when Ukrainians celebrate Vyshyvanka Day. Vyshyvanka is a traditional
Ukrainian men’s and women’s shirt decorated with embroidery. The history of
Ukrainian embroidery traces its roots centuries back. In ancient times, such
clothes were worn by the Slavs. However, even before that, according to
Herodotus, ancient Scythians decorated their clothes with embroidery. Let’s
cherish our nation’s centuries-old customs and wear vyshyvankas (and not just
once a year, but every day)! Happy Vyshyvanka Day!
